Yes'n or No v'n: High-end deodorants?
I was reading Bon Bons in the Bath today, and Christina had posted in answer to a reader's question about whether there are high-end deodorants. It never occurred to me that one might purchase deodorants anywhere other than a drugstore or market. Shows how much I know (and how much I don't think about deodorant - it's a necessity, not a luxury, IMO). Christina did find that there are high-end deodorants, made by companies like Kiehl's and Fresh. This is intriguing to me. I like Fresh a lot and am enamored with the fragrances, including the Sugar one in all its variations. The Fresh deodorant comes in the Sugar scent, which makes it quite enticing. The $18 pricetag isn't enticing at all, though. I mean, seriously? $18 for a deodorant when I can get one for $5 in the drugstore. Uh, no.
But, wait. I'll leave it up to you guys. Yes'n or no v'n: High-end deodorants? Are they worth the price or are you sticking to good ole Secret, Dove and the like?

Well, high-end deodorants get, for the most part, a YES'N from me!! I, along with several of my family and friends, use Donna Karan's Cashmere Mist deodorant. It costs roughly $16 from Macy's. It gets a "yes'n" because I literally use one "pat" and am fresh and DRY all day. It lasts for MONTHS!! As in, I haven't bought a new one yet in 2007. But because of my body chemistry, I can't use it at certain times of the month...if you get my drift. For those times, I use some "super strength" something! Overall, high-end deodorants, yes'n!

I own an $8 deodorant (Oxeo Cube) that I got from Lush, and I've been using it more often than my other deodorants. It's the only thing I know that doesn't cause my armpits to sting or itch - and I know this because I've had otherwise good deodorants/ antiperspirants fail me by working for the first few days and then causing major rash-like irritation on my (frequently shaved) pits. Plus it's powdery, so it's not bad for somebody who perspires lightly but frequently. So, yes!

I have been a faithful user of Kiehls Superbly Efficient Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant Cream for the past 4 years. I LOVE It. The cream formula is great, never stains, is super moisturing and makes for an easy shave...although that is something I don't have to worry about anymore as I recently completed laser hair removal treatments!! Anywho, you should try it.

I just started using Funk Butter (from Oyin Handmade). I don't know if it counts as "high-end"; it probably falls more under the "natural" category, although it's more expensive than Secret or Dove. I think it's definitely worth it. Chemical free, works like a miracle and I smell like coconuts and mangos. Delish.

I also use and love Kiehl's. I started using it, because of allergic reactions to other drug store brands. So, go ahead and splurge. You might like it!
