I don't know why I got sucked into this. Okay, yes I do. It's because I'm a makeup junkie and I just have to try any product that claims it'll make my brown eyes browner. Mind you, Almay has (or had, I don't know if they still do) a similar product - an entire collection, actually - devoted to making the most of one's eye color. I tried those products and yeah, they did nothing. But I thought maybe, just maybe Cover Girl would be better.
Nope. Don't get me wrong - the CG Exact Eyelights Mascara isn't a bad mascara, but it doesn't do what it claims to. I don't know how to prove that one's eyes look 4x brighter, but I know for a fact that my eyes weren't 4x brighter after applying the mascara - they weren't brighter to any degree at all. They looked exactly the same. Apparently, the "metallic tint" of these mascaras is what's supposed to make your eyes brighter, but um, no. They just add a slight touch of sparkle to your lashes and even then, it's only if you look way up close at your lashes in a magnifying mirror. It's not visible to people under normal circumstances at all.
I tried Black Pearl, which is designed for brown eyes. Honestly, I don't think this mascara is even really black - it's just a very dark grey with sparkle. The brush is similar to the brush used in Cover Girl Lash Exact, so if you're a fan of that, you might like this as well. It can help your lashes look thick and pretty, but I did find that it can clump a bit, so be careful with that. If you're simply looking for a thickening mascara at an economical price, this is a fair option. But if you're trying to make your brown eyes browner, blue eyes bluer, etc. - skip it. This isn't gonna do it.
You can find Cover Girl Exact Eyelights Mascara at your local Walgreen's or other drugstores, as well as Target.
