Bobbi Brown Illuminating Bronze Collection

BBBronzeCollection_pr

The Bobbi Brown Illuminating Bronze Collection is on counters now!  The entire collection is full of bronzers for face and body, designed to add a sunkissed effect to the skin, while also giving you a beautiful glow.

The Shimmer Brick for Body is really big - way larger than a typical Shimmer Brick, as it should be, since it costs $75!  Still, if you're a lover of Bobbi's Shimmer Bricks, you'll want this, too!  The massive size of the compact means you'll get your money's worth and the All Over Body Brush is the perfect accompaniment, with the cushiest bristles I've ever felt!  It's like a luxurious pampering procedure to run across your arms, legs, shoulders, and decolletage.  I've been having way too much fun with it.  Make sure that you blow or tap the excess powder off your brush before applying - otherwise, you wind up with a big spot of shimmer that you'll have to rub in with your hand.  I declare both of these - the Shimmer Brick and the brush - Totally Splurge-worthy!

BareEscentuals Purist Collection

Be purist collection

Okay, so by now, y'all know about my obsession with QVC's Saturday Night Beauty and how I get sucked in almost every week.  Well, it's not just SNB that gets me.  I also pay attention to when my favorite beauty brands will be doing their own show.  A couple weeks ago (or was it last week ... they all run together) it was BareEscentuals' anniversary on QVC.  I spent way too much time that day watching Leslie Blodgett and Lisa go into raptures over BE.  As a BE user myself, I was quite taken with all the pretties and could not keep myself from purchasing the new Purist kit.

Thoughts on MAC's Hello Kitty collection

Mac hello kitty

I haven't said anything about the MAC Hello Kitty collection up to this point because I was trying to think of something nice to say.  Well ... the packaging is nice.  Okay, here's the thing: I don't hate the collection, but I really don't like it.  Maybe I've just gotten old or something, but nothing about this collection really appeals to me.  I went to look it over in the stores and there was really nothing I wanted except the Tinted Lip Conditioner in Popster, which is a bright, almost flourescent pink.  To me, the eyeshadows looked like those MAC already had, the blushes weren't anything to write home about, the lipsticks just too much, there's way too much glitter going on ... I just don't love it.  It breaks my heart to say that about a MAC collection because I love MAC so much, but this one just doesn't float my boat.  Maybe if I were a teenager or a younger adult, I would feel differently.

So, how do you feel about the Hello Kitty collection?  Did you buy anything and, if so, what?  Did you pass it by and, if so, why?  I'd love to hear from you!

Bobbi Brown Platinum Collection

Bobbi brown platinum collection If you're a fan of Bobbi Brown's Shimmer Bricks, you're in luck!  Her new Platinum Collection contains a new edition of her highly coveted Shimmer Brick - Platinum Pink.  Contained in this lovely silver compact are stripes of soft pink, platinum, bright pink, golden coral, and rose.  When swirled all together, it leaves behind a frosty pink sheen.  If you use only the bottom three colors together, it offers a bit of a warmer pink flush, while still giving the shimmery effect.  Of course, each shade can be used individually as an eyeshadow, though I'm not a huge advocate of pink shades on the eyes, as it tends to make your eyes look tired.  However, the platinum strip looks wonderful on the eyes and the very lightest pink (the top strip) works well as a highlighter under the brows and on the tear duct.  At $40, Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks are hardly a steal, however, they're totally worth it if you're a fan of shimmery shades.  I have owned almost every shade and continued to have and use Apricot, and Poppy quite often and I think this one will be added to the mix, as well.

Less pleasing is the Long Wear Cream Shadow.  I have had two shades of this and liked them, but the one I have from this collection, Steel, is not a fave at all.  I don't know what it is with this one, but it just doesn't apply smoothly and I don't really like the look of it, either.  It just kind of looks muddy to me.  Still, it didn't budge after a full day's worth of wear, even with no primer underneath, so if you like the shades offered, it's worth picking up.  And I think Steel would be good as a base for a smoky eye look.

I also tried the Shimmer Lip Gloss in Confetti and I love it!  It's a beautiful baby pink with just a touch of shimmer.  It makes my lips look full and lush.  I still hate the brush and the tiny little tube, but it's a good gloss.  Not sure it's worth the $20 price tag, though.

The Bobbi Brown Platinum Collection is on counters now!

Stila Backstage with Lela Rose Collection

If you couldn't sit front row at the Lela Rose fashion show, not to worry!  Just launched is the Stila Backstage with Lela Rose collection!  The collection includes four key products used by the makeup artists backstage.

Stila Sun Shade 01 was used to bronze the models' cheekbones.  The bronzer is known for its buildable color (and is one of my fave "Bronzers for Brown Girls" in Shade 02).

Cranberry Lip Glaze popped the models' pouts.

Starlight Eye Shadow let the lids shimmer with a champagne glow and a layer of Major Lash Mascara in Brown helps to create a balanced face.

This collection is subtle and wearable.  You can get the Stila Backstage with Lela Rose Collection exclusively at www.beauty.com for $34.Stila lela rose
