Pacifica Solid Perfume

Pacifica solid perfume

For the last couple of months, I have been enjoying the Pacifica shower gels - I have Tuscan Blood Orange and Hawaiian Ruby Guava.  They are equally yummy.  So, imagine my excitement when, walking through Wegman's with the troupe after a meeting, Lotus spotted a Pacifica display and on it ... the entire Pacifica line, including Solid Perfume!

Favorite Things 2008!

Favorite_things_2008_II_scaled

It's that time of year again!  I've been invited, once again, to share with you all my Favorite Things from the past year.  Now, not all of these products were released in 2008, however, 2008 is the year I became aware of them and fell in love with them.  I'll be adding a link to my previous review of each pick, so you can see my initial thoughts.

  1. MAC See-Thru Colour in Not So Shy2008 was the Year of the Lip Stain for me, so you will see several of them on this favorites list.  This particular one is a bright fuschia gel and it is love.
  2. MAC Cream Colour Base in Crushed BougainvilleaOkay, I just lied.  2008 was the Year of the Lip and Cheek Stain.  This past year, my normally uber-oily skin started having patches of dryness and I've had a great time finding more moisturizing products.  Cheek stains are awesome.  This one matches the above-mentioned See-Thru Colour and I almost always wear them together.

For the Harajuku Girl (or the lover thereof) ...

Harajuku_lovers_fragrances If you're looking for a good holiday gift for the Harajuku Girl in your life (or the Gwen Stefani impersonator or whatever), there's nothing better than picking up one of the Harajuku Lovers fragrances.  My personal favorites are Love, Music and Baby, but the collection also includes G and Lil' Angel.  Or, you can be really generous and get the whole set!  They are all yummilicious-smelling fragrances.

You can find the Harajuku Lovers fragrances at your local Sephora or on www.sephora.com.

Old Favorites Challenge #2

  • bareEscentuals Tinted Mineral Veil
  • YSL Touche Eclat in 3
  • MAC Brows Pencil in Spiked
  • Anastasia Brow Gel
  • Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Beach Honey, Burnished.  I don't know why I haven't been using these more often.  They are luscious.
  • Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Chocolate Shimmer Ink.  I really should wear this one and the Black Plum Ink one more often.  They go on so silky smooth and look great with just the tiniest hint of a wing at the end.
  • L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara.
  • MAC Bronzing Powder in Refined Deeper Bronze
  • NARS Blush in Exhibit A
  • Smith's Brambleberry Rose Lip Balm
  • MAC Lip Liner in Cork
  • MAC Lustre Lipstick in 1N.  One of my favorite lipsticks ever and I need to rock it more often!
  • MAC Lipglass in Illicit

So, how 'bout you?  What old faves did you rock today?

Harajuku Lovers fragrances

Harajuku_lovers_fragrances Okay, y'all, how cute are they???  These are Gwen Stefani's new Harajuku Lovers fragrances.  I knew I would love them before I even smelled them.  Gwen is responsible for my very favorite fragrance, L, so I knew she would rock it out with these, too.

The Harajuku Lovers Fragrance Collection consists of five new fragrances: Love, Music, Lil' Angel, Baby, and G.  Each fragrance was inspired by the street scene of the Harajuku shopping district in Tokyo, along with lyrics from Gwen Stefani's albums and her group of Harajuku dancers.

Love, is described as "a sensuous floral."  With notes of bergamot, pink pomelo, peach, bamboo leaf, peony, rose, jasmine, nectarine blossom, Egyptian jasmine, ylang, vanilla orchid, musk and blonde wood, I would say that description fits.  This is one of my favorites of the fragrances.  It is an incredibly heady scent, which made me feel like a wanton sex goddess when I wore it.

Lil' Angel, a "fruity floral", has notes of raspberry, cranberry, blackberry, pineapple, pear blossom, candied violet, sugared rose, lollipop accord, hinoki wood, and crystal amber.  It is sugary sweet.  I think of it as being akin to Pink Sugar, another of my favorite fragrances.  I think this is an awesome fragrance for fall and winter, when you want to feel warm and cozy.

Music, a "delicate floral", contains notes of clementine, sparkling pear, jasmine sambac, sweetpea, honeysuckle, vanilla, skin musk, and sleek woods.  "Skin musk"?  I don't like the way that sounds.  But I love the way it smells!  I don't think this is a delicate floral at all, at least not on my skin.  It smells much sweeter and fruitier - the peach, nectarine and pomelo notes are the ones I smell most.  This fragrance made me feel cute and sassy.  Another of my faves!

Baby, the collection's "powdery musk" smells exactly like a liquid version of baby powder.  Love it!  I always have loved the smell of baby powder and this takes me right back to sniffing my daughter's chubby neck when she was an infant.  This might not be the best fragrance for those of us who are looking for a grown up scent, but if you love the smell of innocence, this is for you!  It contains notes of freesia, bergamot, white rose, orange flower, tiare flower, jasmine petals, white musk, soft woods, heliotrope, vanilla, and violet.  All that adds up to baby powder, huh?

The final fragrance, G, inspired by Gwen herself, is my least favorite of the bunch, though I still like it.  This fragrance is described as a "modern gourmand", which I'm guessing means a foodie fragrance.  It does smell like something edible, something tropical.  Actually, it smells a lot like suntan lotion to me, like the lotion my dad used to wear at the pool.  It contains notes of crisp mandarin, fresh coconut, apple skin, jasmine sambac, soft freesia, magnolia vapor, coconut cream, white sandalwood, and cotton woods.  To me, this is a summertime fragrance, or at least one you wear when you want to recapture the feel of summer.

This is a great collection of fragrances!  You can buy the eau de toilettes for $25 for 10 mL or $45 for 30 mL.  I just love looking at them lined up on my dresser!

Carol's Daughter Lemon Blossom Eau de Toilette

Carols_daughter_lemon_blossom More blogging about beauty products I took on vacation!  The only fragrance that made the trip with  me was Carol's Daughter Lemon Blossom Eau de Toilette.  In my opinion, this is the perfect fragrance for summer, or if you're just one who loves zesty, citrusy or light scents.  It is light enough to not be overpowering in the intense summer heat, but also has good staying power.  I also found that it mixed well with the fragrances of my shower gel and body cream.  Carol's Daughter is the queen of yummy scents!  Lemon Blossom is now one of my faves, but I can also attest to the fabulousness of Mango Melange, Jamaican Punch, Groove, Ocean, and Tui!

You can find Carol's Daughter Lemon Blossom Eau de Toilette and other Carol's Daughter products at www.carolsdaughter.com, www.sephora.com or in select Sephora stores.

Shu Uemura Hana-Bi Eau de Toilette in Fleur de Rose

Shu_uemura_fleur_de_rose To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the opening of their first boutique, shu uemura is releasing the Hana-Bi collection.  Hana-Bi (meaning "fireworks") is based on three elemental principles: terre (earth), rose (flower) and source (water).  Each individual package is decorated with a unique fireburst.

I have the pleasure of trying the fleur de rose eau de toilette.  As rose is one of my favorite fragrances, I was very happy about this, as you can imagine.  Can I just say how womanly this fragrance makes me feel?  There is something so mature and sensual about the combination of the decadent headiness of the turkish rose scent and the undercurrent of spicyness that's also present.  I'm not so much a fragrance connoseiur, so I don't know if I'm explaining this well, but it is marvelous.  I have been wearing it every day for a couple of weeks.  Now, this will be a splurge, at $85, but if you can afford it, I highly recommend it.

You can purchase this and other products from the Hana-Bi collection at www.shuuemura-usa.com.
