Hey y'all! I hope you get a chance to read Part 2 of my interview with Ife on her blog, Affrodite.net. This part of the interview focuses on natural hair - my decision to go natural, how that decision was influenced by my daughter, and the continuation of my natural hair journey. Enjoy and let me know what you think!
My friend, Julia Coney, owner and writer of "All About the Pretty", was interviewed by a writer for The Washington Post about the new options in hair relaxers. Because she's ultra cool, she also introduced me to the writer, who interviewed me about my thoughts on relaxers and why I decided that natural was best for me. Give it a look! I am so excited to be quoted!

A while ago, a lovely blogger named Ife contacted me to ask if she could interview me for her blog. I was honored! Here's Part 1 - enjoy!
I'm so excited and honored! NaturallyCurly.com, one of my favorite resources for information on the products, tips, and tricks that work best for curly girls, has chosen me as one of their Top 10 in 10 Beauty Bloggers! It feels great to be on the list and I'm flattered. Please make it your business to head over to NaturallyCurly.com - it's a great website. You can buy products, search for information about how to best cultivate your curls, find a salon with stylists trained in curly/highly-textured hair or just chat with other curly girls like us. And check out the list to see the other bloggers found worthy. It's an awesome collection!
If you get a chance, I'd love for you to listen to me today! My essay about my journey to having natural hair and how it's helped me to love myself, will be airing on NPR's "Tell Me More" today. I'm not sure when the show airs in your area, but if you have a local NPR station, please listen in! And, if you know that you won't be able to, or if you're at your computer with nothing to do, you can click on the link below and read my essay, as well as hear my voice reading it. I hope you enjoy it and I'm always happy to hear your feedback.

I don't know if you guys remember my "Nappyheaded Activist" post, but here's the link in case you want background: http://lifeofaladybug.typepad.com/the_life_of_a_ladybug/2008/02/nappy-headed-ac.html
One of my friends (Hi, Shanna!) read this post and told me I should submit it to "This I Believe", an NPR show. I did, but didn't hear anything back for months. Finally, they contacted me - they wanted to air my essay! I went down to my local public radio station and recorded it today. It's the gist of the original post, just condensed and really focused on a central point.
I am so happy to be able to speak about natural hair and my decision to go natural. This is such an awesome opportunity. I'll let y'all know when it's going to air! Now, instead of just reading my words, you'll be able to hear my voice!
That would be ME! And 51 other beauty bloggers - LOL! "On Makeup Magazine" has listed its 52 Suggested Beauty Bloggers and yours truly is on the list - woo hoo! The latest edition isn't up online yet, but I'll let you know when it is, so that you can see my lovely name and the names of the best of the best in beauty blogging!
