Urban Decay Get Baked Eyeshadow Palette

Urban decay get baked palette

Y'all, it is summer, summer, summertime!  And in the summer, I am all about the bronze and the metallic.  And, if you ask me, nobody does the metallic effect better than Urban Decay!  This Urban Decay Get Baked Eyeshadow Palette is the business, do you hear me?

Too Faced Shadow Insurance

Too faced shadow insurance  Too faced shadow insurance  Lovelies, I have found that which is better than MAC Paint Pots and Urban Decay Primer Potion.  This awesomeness is known as Too Faced Shadow Insurance.  Now, I still love MAC Paint Pots as long-wearing creamy shadows and I will never give them up and yes, they are still good eyeshadow bases.  But I will never buy another genie-bottle shaped vial of Primer Potion again.  As we all saw, all over the Internet, that's just a colossal waste of money - you do not get all the product you paid for.  Not so with Too Faced Shadow Insurance.  It comes in a squeeze tube, so you know you're getting your money's worth of product.  Not to mention that it blends in perfectly with skin and then ... doesn't budge.  I have worn shadow layered over Shadow Insurance for as much as 18 hours without an ounce of smudge.  And, at $17, it is worth every penny.

Bobbi Brown Platinum Collection

Bobbi brown platinum collection If you're a fan of Bobbi Brown's Shimmer Bricks, you're in luck!  Her new Platinum Collection contains a new edition of her highly coveted Shimmer Brick - Platinum Pink.  Contained in this lovely silver compact are stripes of soft pink, platinum, bright pink, golden coral, and rose.  When swirled all together, it leaves behind a frosty pink sheen.  If you use only the bottom three colors together, it offers a bit of a warmer pink flush, while still giving the shimmery effect.  Of course, each shade can be used individually as an eyeshadow, though I'm not a huge advocate of pink shades on the eyes, as it tends to make your eyes look tired.  However, the platinum strip looks wonderful on the eyes and the very lightest pink (the top strip) works well as a highlighter under the brows and on the tear duct.  At $40, Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks are hardly a steal, however, they're totally worth it if you're a fan of shimmery shades.  I have owned almost every shade and continued to have and use Apricot, and Poppy quite often and I think this one will be added to the mix, as well.

Less pleasing is the Long Wear Cream Shadow.  I have had two shades of this and liked them, but the one I have from this collection, Steel, is not a fave at all.  I don't know what it is with this one, but it just doesn't apply smoothly and I don't really like the look of it, either.  It just kind of looks muddy to me.  Still, it didn't budge after a full day's worth of wear, even with no primer underneath, so if you like the shades offered, it's worth picking up.  And I think Steel would be good as a base for a smoky eye look.

I also tried the Shimmer Lip Gloss in Confetti and I love it!  It's a beautiful baby pink with just a touch of shimmer.  It makes my lips look full and lush.  I still hate the brush and the tiny little tube, but it's a good gloss.  Not sure it's worth the $20 price tag, though.

The Bobbi Brown Platinum Collection is on counters now!

MAC Strobe Collection

Strobe_001 Girls who are into bright color, the MAC Strobe Collection probably isn't for you.  This collection isn't about color at all - it's about adding light and iridescence to your face and lips.  That's it.  The Strobe Liquid, which I've tried, supposedly adds a natural-looking glow to the skin, reducing the look of imperfections.  I don't know how it does on reducing the appearance of imperfections, but I'm telling you, at least on me, the glow isn't natural-looking at all.  It's definitely a glow, but it's quite pinky-blue on me and can look ashy.  Brown-skinned divas, take note.

On the other hand, I'm loving the new shades of Tinted Lip Conditioner.  They leave your lips feeling silky soft, with just the barest hint of color.

Strobe Kiss - sheer coral with a golden strobe pearl

Strobe Rays - light caramel with golden red strobe pearl

Strobe Blossom - light blue pink with red strobe pearl

Strobe Current - sheer plum with golden red strobe pearl

Strobe Beam - clear with strobe pearl

My favorites are Strobe Kiss and Strobe Rays.

Benefit That Gal

Benefit_that_gal Benefit That Gal intrigues me.  It looks all pinky and silky in the tube and I just want to love it.  But I don't.  Fortunately, the pinkish cast of the product doesn't make my skin look ashy, but it doesn't really do anything for me.  Nothing mind-blowing, at least.  As a primer, I haven't found that it allows make-up to apply more smoothly, nor that it makes your make-up last longer.  As a brightener, I'm just not seeing the appeal.  It doesn't really make that big of a difference, at least not for my brown skin.  I have seen some effects when patted on top of my under eye concealer - it does offer a smidge more brightening power in that regard, so I guess it wasn't a complete waste of money, but I definitely won't be repurchasing.

You can purchase Benefit That Gal for $27 in Sephora stores, online at www.sephora.com or at www.benefitcosmetics.com.
