NO SPAM: REMINDER!

It's been a while, but it's happening again, so here's your periodic reminder:

It seems like every now and then, I need to post a reminder.

Please allow me to remind you guys that this is my blog.  All things written herein are written by me or guest bloggers whom I've invited to share with my reading audience.  I am happy to hear your comments and engage discussion whenever you guys have something to share with me or have a reaction to one of my posts - I love hearing from you!  However, please DO NOT use my blog as a way of promoting yourself or your business.  Whenever I feel that a comment is being used as free advertisement, it will be DELETED quickly.  It's not that I'm not interested in hearing about any products, businesses, or services you may be able to offer, but this is not the place for that.  If you would like to share any information with me, I encourage you to e-mail me at lifeofaladybug@gmail.com.  If you have a product or service in which I believe my readers may be interested, I am more than happy to talk with you about advertising opportunities that are available on this site.  Or we can talk about other ways you may be able to market to my readers, such as contest giveways, product reviews and the like.  However, I will NEVER allow you to advertise for free in my comments.  Just doesn't work that way.

Thanks!

Reader poll!

This poll was inspired by a conversation I had with Suzanna, one of my most faithful and encouraging readers - thanks, Suzanna!

I know there are many of you readers who do not comment regularly, however, I really want to hear from as many of you as possible, so please answer these questions in the comments or in an e-mail to me - thanks!

1. Which beauty blogs do you read most?  Why?

2. Are you more willing to trust those blogs that seem to be written by "real, every day women" than you are by the bigger blogs or those blogs that are associated with magazines, companies, etc.?

3. Does the fact that beauty bloggers receive freebies bother you?  Do you think bloggers should specify which products were received as free samples and which products were purchased?

4. What do you like best about The Life of A Ladybug?  What would you like to see more of?

Thank you so much for reading my blog - I appreciate each and every one of you!  Mwah!

Well, when the hating starts, you must be getting big, huh?

Have you seen the article in today's New York Times?  If not, here's the link, you can check it out for yourself: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/31/fashion/31SKIN.html?_r=2&oref=slogin&oref=login

As a beauty blogger and a friend of many other beauty bloggers, allow me to say that the article is a load of bull.  I know that I, for one, do not censor myself when it comes to reviewing any product - either one I bought or one I received from a PR firm or beauty company.  I don't always note which products I received for free, but I don't keep it a secret that I receive some freebies.

When I started this blog, I didn't start it as a beauty blog.  It just kind of evolved that way.  I had no idea that any bloggers received free samples.  In fact, when I was first contacted about receiving free samples, I thought I was being scammed.  I looked the woman up on the Internet and called her office to make sure she was a real person.  When I received the products, I hated them and I said so.  Maybe my honest reviews will cause me to have some companies not send me stuff - well, so be it.  I write this blog because I love it and because I love you guys.  This is not how I make my living (though I would love that) and I have a day job.  The freebies that I receive are lovely, but they don't mean that I'm making out like a bandit or anything.  I pay for this website.  I buy quite a few of the products I receive.  Please know that any review I give here is honest, regardless of how I came by the product.

You should read the blogs you like, blogs written by people you trust.  I hope this is one of them.

I'm a new member of Total Beauty!
